ABC four corners program discusses the enormous waste in the health system, focusing in particular on knee surgery and back imaging.

Four corners had an amazing show on last week discussing the incredible waste in our health system.

We see so many patients that have been unnecessarily referred for back imaging, (program was suggesting over 90% are pointless) by their GP.  We also see so many patients getting knee arthroscopes, shoulder clean outs, spinal fusion surgery and more that could be prevented and helped by good hands on treatment, good management, patient education, care and exercise routines.  This would save the system billions of dollars.  Knee replacement surgery alone costs 1% of the health budget, an insane amount of money!
