Australia has an obesity epidemic and it’s mostly due to poor diet and a sedentary lifestyle. It can be hard for our office working Melbourne dwellers but there are simple and effective ways to reinvigorate your mental clarity and get those muscles moving.

Idea 1# Get a ‘sit to stand’ desk

This is an adjustable desk that allows you to alternate between sitting and standing during your work day. If you can alternate every hour you will increase calorie burning and will do wonders for your spinal health.

Idea 2# Go for a walk during your breaks

Time to get some fresh air in Wintery Melbourne and go a bit further for your morning or afternoon coffee. Thirty minutes of moderate exercise a day such as a brisk walk; decreases your chance or cardiovascular disease by 9.3%, reduces your risk or high blood pressure by 7.2% and reduces bad cholesterol by 7%.

Idea 3# Take the stairs

Wherever you can opt for the stair option; this can include train stations, office buildings and shopping centres. Stairs are a great way to get your heart pumping as well as a moderate leg session. Exercise is a great way to clear the mind and increase focus; studies have shown an increase in productivity and efficiency in office workers who move more at work.
